Home Minister Amit Shah was in Odisha on 8 August. They are visiting different places as part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', but the Odisha tour is something special. Naveen Patnaik of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has been the Chief Minister in the state for the last 22 years. The BJP has started preparations to penetrate his stronghold. Amit Shah has also prepared its blueprint.
In Bhubaneswar, Amit Shah narrated the success stories of the Gujarat model and mentioned the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. Mayurbhanj is the district of Draupadi Murmu, who became president last month. Mayurganj came into the limelight due to being associated with the country's first tribal president. Shah said that most of the houses in this district do not have toilets. This forces women to go out. This hurts his honor.
Mayurganj District of Draupadi Murmu, hence its mention
President Draupadi Murmu was born in village Uparwada in Mayurganj district and married in Paharpur village in the same district. His work land was also here in Tehsil Rairangpur. A BJP MLA who was present with Shah said that it is our right to mention the Mayurbhanj district. We have given the country the first woman tribal president. The people of Odisha will surely remember this. It was evident from the MLA's point that the Home Minister did not take the name of Mayurganj except in other districts of Odisha.
Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be held in the state in 2024
For the meeting of Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP MPs, MLAs, provincial chiefs, and candidates who came second in the assembly elections in 2019 were called. An MLA who attended the meeting told that instructions have been given for the assembly and Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024. Based on these, concrete planning was done. Everyone has got an order to land it in a month.
1. The candidate who stood second in the last election should become active
The candidates who lost by less than 5000 votes in the assembly or Lok Sabha elections were asked to become active from now on. Go among the people and work to fill this gap. In the last assembly elections, 11 candidates lost by a margin of less than 5 thousand. The margin of victory of 10 MLAs of the party was also less than 5 thousand votes. These MLAs have also been asked to adopt an aggressive attitude.
2. List Micro Level Issues
In the meeting, the Home Minister asked to prepare a list of Panchayat level issues instead of superficial issues. Non-procurement of paddy on a coarse level at the government rate and unemployment is a big issue here. MPs, MLAs, provincial workers, and especially those who came second in the 2019 elections have been asked to go to the panchayats.
3. Capitalizing on the issue of making Draupadi Murmu the President
In the meeting, it was discussed not to include President Murmu's name directly in the campaign, but to use it politically. Pramod Kumar Mishra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi is from Sambalpur in Odisha and the current Chairman of RBI is from Bhubaneswar. According to the source, a plan will be made to make all these names brands.
the blueprint drawn in Bhubaneswar, churn will be held in puri for 3 days
The Home Minister prepared the blueprint of Mission Odisha-2024 in a two-hour meeting. Work on this will also start in a month. According to the source, a 3-day meeting of the State Leadership is going to be held in Puri by the end of this month. In this meeting, according to the instructions of the Home Minister, the strategy for both the elections to be held in 2024 will be brainstormed.
In the last election, BJD got 112 seats, BJP only 23
Naveen Patnaik, who has been ruling Odisha since 2000, has become a 'brand'. In the presidential election, his party supported NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu. Patnaik has good relations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the biggest challenge for the BJP in the state is also Naveen Patnaik.
BJP is not even close to BJD in terms of seats. There is a total of 146 assembly seats in the state. In the last election, Naveen Patnaik's party won 112. BJP won 23 seats and Congress 9 seats. BJD had won 12 seats out of 21 Lok Sabha seats.
