Kerala Varsities Chancellor Controversy: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has questioned the legal validity of the provisions of the bill being brought by the Left government to curtail the Governor's powers as Chancellor of universities in the state and to take away the post of Chancellor from the Governor. He alleged that the government is taking such a step because they are completely disappointed and desperate. He said the law is very clear – it is the responsibility of the university chancellor, not the government. Legally speaking, the university is not your responsibility. Khan said the Chancellor's job is to ensure that there is no interference from the executive or from anywhere in the functioning of the university.
