Chandrayaan-3 Landing: The last 15 minutes of Chandrayaan 3 will be a moment of fear, read why the future of the mission hinges on it

Chandrayaan 3 has reached the closest orbit to the moon. With the approach of the moon, Vikram Lander has sent many pictures of the moon in the past. Isro released that the spacecraft captured these pictures while finding its landing site.

According to ISRO, the Vikram lander of Chandrayaan 3 will land tomorrow i.e. on August 23 at 6.4 pm. The last 15 minutes of the landing of the vehicle will be a moment of fear, which is called 15 Minutes of terror.

If the landing does not happen tomorrow, then the landing will happen on August 27.

Chandrayaan 3's Vikram Lander will take stock of the situation 2 hours before landing tomorrow. If the health of the lander Lodule and the situation on the moon is not right, then the landing can be postponed till 27 August.

ISRO scientist Nilesh Desai said that the lander will try to land on the lunar surface on August 23 from an altitude of 30 km and at that time its speed will be 1.68 km per second. The scientist said that the speed will be further reduced at the time of landing and if this does not happen then there will be a possibility of crash landing.

What is 15 Minutes of Terror

The last moments of Chandrayaan 3's landing are going to be very important. The last moments of any space mission are called the Last Minutes of Terror. The same is the case with Chandrayaan 3, during which the lander will attempt to exit the lunar orbit and land on the surface.

In these last 15 minutes, the lander works by itself. No command can be given from ISRO in this process. During this, Vikram Lander has to land at the right time, altitude and using the right amount of fuel. This is the reason why this time is called 15 Minutes of Terror.

Rover will come out after landing

The Pragyan rover will eject from the lander 2 hours after its successful landing. Due to the large amount of dust flying during landing, the sensors may be confused, so the Pragyan rover will exit the Vikram lander after 2 hours. The rover will then collect specific information about the moon from the surface.
