Amidst the apprehension of the fourth wave of the Corona epidemic, the central government has started preparations. In this series, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) along with state officials has started inspection of pharmaceutical companies. The Health Ministry said in a statement that on the instructions of Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the inspections are being conducted across the country as per standard operating procedures.

Earlier, an action plan was drawn up for a nationwide inspection of drug stores that have been identified as at risk of manufacturing adulterated or counterfeit drugs, the statement said. Because of this, CDSCO has constituted a committee of two Joint Drug Controllers to oversee the process of inspection, data generation, and follow-up action to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, of 1940. The committee will ensure high standards of quality in respect of drugs manufactured in the country.

The objective of drug surveillance is to ensure the safety, efficacy, and quality of drugs available in the country. The Drug Control Administration has to ensure that drug companies comply with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, of 1940.

CDSCO monitors drugs

CDSCO monitors the manufacture, import, and distribution of drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics in the country. It plays an important role in ensuring the quality and safety of medicines. Healthcare products are available to the people of the country only after the approval of CDSCO.

Let me tell you, the cases of the coronavirus have increased in the country. In the last 24 hours, 157 new cases of coronavirus have been reported and one person has died. However, the active cases have come down to 3,421. Today mock drills are being organized in all the Covid hospitals across the country. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visited Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday to review the COVID mock drill.

We must be prepared: Health Minister

On this occasion, Mandaviya said that today mock drill has been organized in many hospitals across the country, I inspected the Covid ward and saw whether other hospitals have the same arrangements as here. If the corona cases increase in the coming days, then we should be fully prepared for that.
