EU wasting more food than imports: Feedback EU claims - 15.30 million tonnes of grain are being wasted every year

Due to the Russia-Ukraine war and climate change, grain prices are skyrocketing around the world. The European Union (EU) on the other hand wastes more food than it imports. Feedback According to an EU study, about 1530 million tonnes of food is wasted in the EU every year. This is more than double the previous estimates.

 

The amount of wheat wasted in the EU alone is equivalent to about half of Ukraine's wheat exports and a quarter of other EU grain exports. Feedback EU director Frank Machilson said that in times of high food prices and life-threatening food waste in the EU, such a large amount of food is a big problem.

Prices will remain the same even after the Russia-Ukraine war is over.

 

11.38 lakh crore Rs. annual waste of food

 

The cost of wasted food grains in the EU is Rs 11.38 lakh crore. Is. Food waste accounts for 6% of the greenhouse gas emitted by the EU. 20% of the EU's food products are being wasted. By 2030, if the EU cuts grain waste in half, food grains equivalent to the yield of 47 million hectares can be saved.
