Private sector lender IndusInd Bank remained under selling pressure on Thursday even after reporting a 72% year-on-year jump in net profit for the April–June quarter of FY27. The bank posted a net profit of ₹1,037 crore, yet its shares declined more than 6%, touching ₹1,002.50 on the BSE during intraday trade.
The decline came just a day after the stock touched a fresh 52-week high of ₹1,077.80, indicating that investors booked profits despite strong earnings.
IndusInd Bank Q1 FY27 Results
IndusInd Bank announced its quarterly earnings for the April–June 2026 period on July 22, 2026.
Key Financial Highlights
Net Profit: ₹1,037 crore (up 72% YoY)
Net Interest Income (NII): ₹4,685 crore (vs ₹4,640 crore YoY)
Net Interest Margin (NIM): Improved to 3.57% from 3.46%
Provisions & Contingencies: Declined to ₹1,384 crore from ₹1,760 crore
The sharp rise in profit was largely driven by a significant reduction in provisions rather than strong growth in core interest income.
Why Did IndusInd Bank Shares Fall?
Despite reporting robust profit growth, investors remained cautious for several reasons:
Net Interest Income (NII) remained almost flat, indicating limited core business growth.
The earnings boost was primarily due to lower provisioning rather than stronger lending income.
Investors booked profits after the stock recently hit a new 52-week high.
Market participants may have expected even stronger operational performance.
These factors weighed on investor sentiment, leading to selling pressure in the stock.
Asset Quality Shows Improvement
The bank reported better asset quality during the June quarter.
Asset Quality
Gross NPA (GNPA): 3.25% (down from 3.64% YoY)
Net NPA (NNPA): 0.95% (down from 1.12% YoY)
The improvement suggests a gradual reduction in stressed assets and healthier loan quality.
