Kamala Harris: What is the relation of the Vice President candidate with India in the US elections

After breaking the dream of becoming president himself months ago, Kamala Harris has got another chance to show her strength on the Democratic ticket.

A year ago, the California senator made a different impression from the crowd of candidates and gave many excellent speeches in a row. Not only this, but he also criticized his rival, Joe Biden, in the presidential race. But by the end of the year 2019, his campaign had cooled down.

Now Presidential candidate Joe Biden from the Democratic Party has made 55-year-old Kamala Harris his candidate for the Vice-President.

Who is Kamala Harris?

California's Democrat leader Kamala Harris was born in Auckland. His mother is of Indian origin and his father is of Jamaican origin. After the divorce, Harris was raised alone by her Hindu mother. His mother has been a cancer researcher and civil rights activist. She grew up with an Indian heritage, came to India with her mother, but Harris says that her mother had adopted the American-African culture and kept both her daughters Kamala and Maya in it.

She says, "My mother knew very well that she was raising two black daughters."

He wrote this in his autobiography 'The Truth We Hold'.

She writes, "She knew that the land she had adopted as home would look like Maya and me like black girls. She was determined to make sure we grew up as confident, black women. "

He enrolled in the country's famous Howard University. It is one of the historical colleges and universities in the country. She describes it as the most creative experience in life.

Harris says that she has always been comfortable about her identity and calls herself American.

In 2019, he told the Washington Post that politicians should not fit in any compartment because of their background or color. He said, "I believe that I am who I am. I am fine with this. You may have to consider it but I am fine like that."

Law and order ladder

After spending four years at Howard, Harris went to the University of California, Hastings to study law, and then began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.

In 2003, she became the top advocate of San Francisco. She was then elected Attorney General of California. She became the first woman and the first African woman to reach this position in America's most populous state.

In his two terms as Attorney General, Kamala Harris earned a reputation as a rising star of the Democratic Party and used this to contest the 2017 Junior US Senator of California.

When elected to the US Senate, Harris was very much talked about because of his talk. She was also discussed in important Senate hearings because of her questions on then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and Attorney General William Barr.

Wish for the white house

When she announced her candidacy for the presidency in Auckland California in front of a crowd of 20,000, she was very excited for this bet of 2020. But she failed to give a clear argument about her campaign and when she was questioned on the issue of healthcare, she gave a lot of answers. With this, she could not gather more numbers on the claim of her candidature. Her lawyer's quality was seen in the candidature debates, repeatedly attacking Biden.

Harris, who has a degree and experience in law, tried to move between the progressive and liberal streams in his party but could not appeal to either of them properly. He ended his candidature in December. Shortly after this, at the beginning of 2020, Domokratics' first candidacy was going to be contested.

In March, Harris supported the former president and said "she will do everything possible to elect him as the next president of America."

His record regarding crime and policing

Kamala Harris' candidacy has put her California top lawyer's record at the center of the discussion.

Despite her left-leaning on issues like gay marriage and capital punishment, she has repeatedly targeted progressive thinking people. These questions arise on them that they are not as progressive as they should be. Law professor at the University of San Francisco, Lara Bazelon, also wrote an article criticizing Harris.

At the beginning of Kamala Harris's campaign, Bazelon wrote that Harris avoided progressive battles on issues such as police reform, drug reform, and wrongful convictions.

But Harris, who calls herself a "progressive advocate", has tried to emphasize the mostly leftist-leaning parts of her legacy - like some special agents in California's Department of Justice were asked to use body cameras, a decision It became the first state agency to implement and launched a database from which even ordinary people can see crime statistics - but even these steps did not attract much attention.

The sentence "Kamla is a cop" is being used extensively during election campaigns, making it difficult for them to gain a more liberal democratic base in the primaries. But these things can give them an advantage in the general election only when Democrats need to win over more moderate voters and independents.

At this time, there is a debate in America on racist incidents and police brutality, in such a way Harris can get the benefit of his experience.

In many talk shows, he has said that there should be an improvement in the way police work across America.

On Twitter, he demanded the arrest of a police officer who lost the life of a 26-year-old African-American woman, Breona Taylor.

And Harris often speaks of the need to end systemic racism.

Kamala Harris has spoken many times that due to her identity she is the right person to represent the deprived sections.
