The area where the attack took place is between Sanai Top in the border district of Surankote and the Gursai area of Mendhar.

Indian Air Force Corporal Vicky Pahade lost his life in the terrorist attack in Poonch. The mortal remains of the martyred soldier were brought to Nagpur by a special aircraft from Udhampur, from where it was brought to Chhindwara by a special army helicopter, where state Chief Minister Mohan Yadav paid tribute to him.
