The opposition has agreed to support the government for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said that Rajnath Singh talked to party president Mallikarjun Kharge on this issue. However, according to sources, Rajnath Singh did not give any assurance to the opposition on the demand for the post of Deputy Chairman. There has been no Deputy Chairman in the previous term. Apart from Kharge, Rajnath Singh also spoke to other opposition leaders including DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.
