The opposition has agreed to support the government for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said that Rajnath Singh talked to party president Mallikarjun Kharge on this issue. He said that we will support the government for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker only if the opposition gets the post of Deputy Speaker.
Rahul Gandhi said that if the opposition is given the post of Deputy Speaker, then we will support the government in the selection of the Lok Sabha Speaker. Rajnath Singh has not yet responded to the opposition's demand for the post of Deputy Speaker.

However, according to sources, Rajnath Singh did not give any assurance to the opposition on the demand for the post of Deputy Chairman. There has been no Deputy Chairman in the previous term.
