
Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, left for space aboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. He became the first Indian to reach the International Space Station.

Selected for Gaganyaan in 2019
Shubhanshu Shukla was selected by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in 2019 as one of the four astronauts for the country's first human space mission Gaganyaan. He has also trained at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Russia from 2019 to 2021.
Along with this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also gave astronaut wings to Shubhanshu Shukla on 27 February 2024. In the Air Force, Shubhanshu Shukla has experience flying various fighter aircraft for more than 2 thousand hours.

Before going on the space mission, Shubhanshu Shukla also gave a message. He said, "We are planning to leave this planet early in the morning on June 25, so I would like to thank everyone involved in this mission for their support and also thank everyone at home for their blessings and love."
Shubhanshu's wife Dr. Kamna Shukla is a dentist by profession. She is Shumbhashu's friend from school. Their love started blossoming during school studies. However, they also got married with family consent.

Kamna Shukla and Shubhanshu Shukla have been together since their primary school days. Kamna had told me during an interview that both of them studied together since class 3 and then they became close friends. Kamna said that Shubhanshu is a very shy and quiet person.
