New Delhi, March 26 (IANS) Seychelles has released two Indian fishing vessels almost two months after they were intercepted in territorial waters of the indian Ocean island nation.
External affairs ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin tweeted: "Heading home. 2 Indian fishing boats head home after release from Seychelles.a
According to Seychelles News Agency, the two captains, M. Jerine and S. Gracious, along with 19 of the crew, were freed on Tuesday March 24, due to a lack of evidence.
They were intercepted by the Seychelles Coast Guard on January 28 on suspicion of illegal fishing.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Seychelles earlier this month.
