Ankit Gupta (Colombo): During the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, inflation is also at its peak. However, the prices of some vegetables have come down slightly as compared to the previous months. The reason for this is the cooperation of India. Urea and insecticides were sent from India to Sri Lanka, due to which the vegetables which had started getting spoiled could be saved and production got better. At the same time, petrol and diesel are also coming from India, due to which the movement of vegetables has also become better than before.

For example, potato and onion are such vegetables, whose price was increasing very much earlier, but due to the arrival of oil from India, the price has come down significantly or it can be said that the vegetables which are available in Sri Lanka are compared to those vegetables. The prices of vegetables coming from India are low. Vegetable seller Pharaoh told the prices of all vegetables and also told that vegetables from India are cheaper than Sri Lanka.

These are the prices of vegetables in Sri Lanka-

Onion - Rs 260 / kg now, Rs 340 / kg in May

Tomato - Rs 380 / kg now, Rs 220 / kg in January, Rs 900 / kg in May

Capsicum- Rs 750/kg now, Rs 700/kg in January, Rs 1100/kg in May

Cabbage – Rs 800/kg now, Rs 600/kg in January, Rs 1400/kg in May

Gourd - Rs 340 / kg now, Rs 200 / kg in January, Rs 700 / kg in May

Broccoli - Rs 2400 / kg now, Rs 1200 / kg in January, Rs 3000 / kg in May

Sri Lanka is going through the worst phase

Significantly, Sri Lanka is going through the worst phase of its history at this time. Along with the economic crisis, the political crisis is also continuing in the country. People are on the streets against the government. The country's Rashtrapati Bhavan is occupied by protesters. Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled the country on the previous day and fled to Singapore. He sent his resignation letter to the speaker from Singapore itself. Which was accepted today. After this, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe took oath as the interim President.
