Indian women's cricket team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana made her first public appearance since her engagement to music composer Palash Muchhal was called off. During an event, she revealed that even during this difficult time, cricket remains her greatest strength and true love.
She said that no matter what happens in her personal life, she trusts in her game and hard work. She also added that she doesn't overthink things and always maintains a simple approach. At the event, she also stated that she loves nothing more than cricket.
Smriti Mandhana reveals her mindset.
Incidentally, Smriti Mandhana was supposed to marry music composer Palash Muchhal on November 23, 2025, but on the same day, the cricketer's father suffered a heart attack, and the wedding had to be postponed. The postponement caused a stir when some flirty chats of Palash Muchhal were leaked on social media.
Palash was linked to a woman named Mary D'Costa. Fans accused him of cheating after seeing the leaked chats. However, on December 7, 2025, Smriti and Palash shared a story on their Instagram pages, announcing the cancellation of the wedding and requesting privacy.
This was Smriti's first public appearance since the breakup. Speaking at the Amazon Sambhav Summit, Smriti said:
"I've always been a very simple person; I don't complicate my life by overthinking anything. One thing I believe in is that if you do a lot of work behind the scenes, what happens on the field, everyone sees and judges, but I judge myself or the team based on the work done behind the scenes. I'm really proud of doing that work day in and day out, whether I'm feeling good or bad about things, whatever it is." I think if you do that work, then when you go out to bat, you're very confident about what's going to happen - Smriti Mandhana
It's worth noting that on November 2, 2025, the Indian women's team won the ODI World Cup for the first time by defeating South Africa. Recalling this victory, Mandhana said,
I love nothing more than cricket. Wearing the Indian jersey is my biggest motivation. Since childhood, it has been my dream for people to call me a 'World Champion'. - Smriti Mandhana
A few days ago, Mandhana posted on Instagram that her marriage to musician Palash Muchhal would not be happening. She appealed to people to respect the privacy of both families. Smriti wrote in her story:
There has been a lot of speculation about my life over the past few weeks, and I feel it's important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person, and I want to keep it that way, but I need to clarify that the wedding has been called off. I want to end this matter here, and I request you all to do the same. I request you to respect the privacy of both families at this time and give us time to move forward at our own pace. I believe we all have a greater purpose behind us, and for me, that purpose has always been to represent my country at the highest level. I hope to continue playing for India for as long as possible and keep winning trophies, and my focus will always remain on that. Thank you all for your support. Now it's time to move on. - Smriti Mandhana
