Union Minister Nitin Gadkari made an important statement on Thursday. He said that there is a need to build a society where no one has to face discrimination on the basis of gender, caste or religion.
Nitin Gadkari said this at a function organized for 'Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar Mahila Samman' before International Women's Day. In this function, women who have done remarkable work in their respective fields were honored.
Should be judged based on talent: Gadkari
Nitin Gadkari said that we should create a society where no one is judged based on caste, gender, religion, or social status but based on their talent and contribution. The Union Minister said that now the world has changed and women should not feel limited based on their gender.
Where there is merit, women are moving forward and 75 percent of the top achievers are women. Let us tell you that the Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar Mahila Samman Awards have been established by Mumbai-based Kamala Ankibai Ghamandiram Gowani Trust.
Manohar Lal mentioned the progress made in Haryana.
Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal mentioned the progress made in Haryana in the last few years towards women empowerment. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" initiative has played a role in bringing about significant changes in Haryana.
During his tenure as Haryana CM, 30 women police stations were established. The management of these police stations is in the hands of women officers. The purpose behind their establishment is that women can easily register their complaints with the police without any hesitation.
Expressed concern over road accidents
Meanwhile, in New Delhi itself, Gadkari inaugurated the two-day Global Road Infratech Summit and Expo (GRIS) on the topic "Vision Zero: Sustainable Infratech and Policy for Safe Roads". Here he said that most of the road accidents in the country are caused by poor civil engineering practices in road design, construction, and management and improper road signs and markings. He suggested that this could be improved by following what is being done in countries like Spain, Austria, and Switzerland.
