The Indian team will be selected for the World Cup on Tuesday (September 5). It is believed that the chief selectors of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have prepared the list of players. The team can be announced at 1:30 p.m. Captain Rohit Sharma was present in the press conference when the team was selected for the Asia Cup. It is not clear whether he will be there this time or not. BCCI officials will announce the team. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar can be seen during this time.

According to ICC rules, all the countries participating in the World Cup have to announce their starting team by September 5. Changes can be made in the team till 27 September. According to media reports, after the India-Pakistan match in Asia Cup 2023, there was a meeting between captain Rohit Sharma, coach Rahul Dravid and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. The team was decided in this meeting. Now the names of the players selected in the team will be officially announced.

What did Rohit Sharma say on team selection?

After the match against Nepal in the Asia Cup on Monday night, Rohit Sharma was asked questions about the World Cup team. When commentator Sanjay Manjrekar asked about the team, the Indian captain said, "When we came to play for the Asia Cup, we knew who would be in the 15-member team for the World Cup." We knew that everything would not be clear in two matches of the Asia Cup because we had to play only two matches before the team selection.

Samson, Krishna, and Tilak will be out

KL Rahul, who could not play in the first two matches of the Asia Cup, is certain to be selected for the World Cup. The BCCI medical team has given him the green signal. Wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna and young batsman Tilak Verma, who have been selected for the Asia Cup, may face disappointment. All three are likely to not be included in the World Cup squad.

Rahul had surgery

Rahul had undergone surgery on his right thigh and has been out of the field for the last three and a half months. While announcing the team for the Asia Cup, Agarkar had said in the press conference that Rahul was injured. For this reason, Sanju Samson was selected as the backup. Agarkar had already indicated that the selection committee would select the World Cup squad from the 17-man squad selected for its Asia Cup.

Chahal's dream will be shattered!

India's experienced spinner Yuzvendra Chahal's dream of playing in the World Cup may be shattered. His name has been considered but Akshar Patel has gone ahead of him with the bat. Akshar can also make a significant contribution with the bat if needed. This talent of his has overshadowed Chahal. Chahal will have to wait to play in the World Cup once again. He was not selected in 2019 as well. At the same time, Kuldeep played in his place in the last World Cup, and this time his place is confirmed.

Stamp on the names of five batsmen and two wicketkeepers!

Five batsmen can be selected as captains Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav for the World Cup. At the same time, KL Rahul is sure to be selected along with Ishaan Kishan as the wicketkeeper. Apart from vice-captain Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel, and Shardul Thakur will be in the role of all-rounders.
