External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Maldives counterpart Abdullah Khalil will hold a review meeting on India-Maldives economic and maritime security on Monday. Khalil is on a three-day visit to India from Sunday evening with a high-level delegation. This is his third visit to India this year.

The India-Maldives Vision Paper on Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership was adopted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu in October last year. The Ministry of External Affairs said that Abdullah Khalil's visit is for high-level political dialogue between India and Maldives.

Bilateral talks will be held with the Maldives Foreign Minister.

Let us tell you that Khalil will also hold bilateral talks with Jaishankar. The Ministry of External Affairs said that Maldives is a major maritime neighbor of India and an important partner in India's Neighborhood First Policy and Vision Ocean, which aims at overall progress in all areas.

Relations between India and Maldives are improving.

Relations between the two countries had become strained after pro-China Muizzu took over the top post in November 2023. Relations have improved after Muizzu pledged to boost bilateral ties with India during his visit to Delhi in October.
