Arrested for supporting Taliban: 14 people of Assam detained for posting in favor of Taliban on social media, police monitoring the sites

Action has started against people who support the Taliban in India. Assam Police has arrested 14 people for writing posts in support of the Taliban on social media. The arrests were made from different areas of Assam on Friday night.

 

Apart from the IT Act, a case has been registered against the accused under CrPC. Assam Police issued a statement saying that 2 people each have been arrested from Kamrup, Barpeta, Dhubri, Karimganj. Apart from this, one person each has been arrested from Darrang, Cachar, Hailakandi, Salmara South, Goalpara, and Hojai districts. They are constantly keeping an eye on social media.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Violet Barua said that Assam Police is taking action against those who comment in support of the Taliban on social media. Considering it a threat to national security, a criminal case is being registered against the commenters. He said that if anyone sees such comments on social media, then he can tell us.
