The Union Health Ministry held a press conference on Wednesday regarding the increasing cases of coronavirus epidemic. In this, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry, Luv Agarwal said that the rate of spread of corona in Maharashtra, West Bengal, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Gujarat is very fast and hence it has become a matter of concern. However, there has also been two good news from the Ministry of Health on the spread of the Omicron variant. It has been told that so far only 115 people have been confirmed dead in the world from Omicron, while in India only one person has died.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has also changed the policy of discharging patients after reviewing the situation in Corona. Now those infected with mild symptoms can be discharged after seven days of being found positive. During this, if the patient's condition remains fine for three consecutive days and he does not get a fever, then there will be no need for testing for discharge.
On the other hand, if patients with moderate symptoms show improvement and their oxygen saturation level remains more than 93 percent for three consecutive days without oxygen support, then such patients can be discharged.
According to the Health Ministry, the states where concerns have been raised, the infection rate is very high, where this rate is 22.39 percent in Maharashtra, 32.18 percent in Bengal, 23.1 percent in Delhi, and 4.47% in Uttar Pradesh. The Joint Secretary, citing a statement issued by the World Health Organization (WHO), said that Omicron is spreading much faster than Delta. Data from South Africa, the UK, Canada, and Denmark show that Omicron has a lower risk of hospitalization than Delta.
