Limit opened to reduce the backlog
On Thursday morning, Torkham was reopened by Afghan Taliban forces, allowing some of the thousands of trucks that had been parked at the border for days to pass. These trucks carrying vegetables, fruits, and other perishable food items were allowed to cross the border to reduce the backlog.

Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, director of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said Pakistan was unable to cross the border due to administrative issues. "The Pakistani side has closed the Torkham Gate after the Islamic Emirate authorities opened the border today," the media center of Afghanistan's Nangarhar province said on Twitter.

Pakistan recently warned that if the Taliban administration fails to rein in the militants, it reserves the right to target TTP sanctuaries in Afghanistan, raising the possibility of cross-border violence.
