After the holy month of Sawan has started, the Kanwar Yatra is going on all over the country. Lakhs of Kanwar pilgrims are going to take Gangajal from different places and offer it to the Shivling. Special arrangements have been made for Kanwariyas in many states. Especially in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the government has issued some guidelines for the Kanwar route, about which the Supreme Court has now asked questions.
The UP and Uttarakhand government have ordered all shopkeepers on the Kanwar route to put up QR Code, in which the complete identity of the shop owner will be present. At the same time, now the Supreme Court has asked the reason for this decision from both the state governments.
SC gave 1 week
The Supreme Court has given 1 week to the UP and Uttarakhand governments to file a reply. While hearing the case, the bench of Justice MM Sundaresh and Justice N Kotishwar Singh said that both the governments will have to tell the Supreme Court the reason for the QR code order by next Tuesday.
2 weeks' time sought
Advocate General Jitendra Kumar Sethi, who represented Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the Supreme Court, has sought 2 weeks time from the Supreme Court to file a reply, which has been opposed by senior advocate Shadan Farasat. Shadan said that this Kanwar Yatra will end in 10-12 days. The Supreme Court has also agreed to this and ordered to file a reply by next Tuesday.
What is the order related to the QR code?
Let us tell you that in view of the Kanwar Yatra, the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand government had issued a notice. In this order, it has been made mandatory for the shopkeepers setting up food shops on the Kanwar route to put QR code. In this QR code, they will have to tell the identity of the shop owner.
Challenged in the Supreme Court
This order of the government was challenged in the Supreme Court. In the petition filed in the Supreme Court, it has been claimed that this step of the UP-Uttarakhand government is a violation of the interim order of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had last year passed an interim order that shopkeepers cannot be forced to reveal their identity.
