Heatwave Alert In India: Given the scorching heat in the country, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Red Alert' for Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and parts of West Uttar Pradesh, in which a heat wave is expected for the next five days. There is a possibility of severe heat waves to severe heat waves. The maximum day temperature may exceed 47 degrees Celsius in many districts of these states.
Severe heat conditions were observed in many parts of northwest India, parts of Rajasthan as well as isolated areas of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, the weather department said. Apart from this, hot conditions were also observed during nighttime in some parts of Rajasthan.
The highest maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 47.8 degrees Celsius in Haryana's Sirsa, followed by 47.4 degrees Celsius in Delhi's Najafgarh.

A Heatwave alert was issued on May 22
Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in the plains of northwest India, with heatwave conditions likely in northern Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat in the next 5 days.
There is a possibility of a gradual rise of about 2-3 degrees in maximum temperatures in many parts of Central India in the next five days. In the next 24 hours, no significant change is expected in maximum temperatures over northwest India and Maharashtra, followed by a gradual rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius.

The sky will be mainly clear in Delhi on Wednesday. IMD has warned that there is a possibility of heat waves in some places. It said there will be strong surface winds with speeds of 20-30 km/h and occasional gusts during the day.
Chances of rain in Kerala
According to the IMD, the Southwest Monsoon is likely to advance into parts of the Southeast Arabian Sea, additional areas of the Maldives, the Comorin area, the South Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea, and more areas of the Nicobar Islands and Andaman in the next two days. The circumstances are favorable.
Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over coastal and south interior Karnataka from May 22 to 23. There is a possibility of rain in Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on 24 May and in Kerala on 25 May.
Additionally, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from 22 to 23 May and over Kerala and Mahe on 24 May. There will be extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over Kerala on the 22nd and 23rd May.
