New Delhi, April 22 (IANS) BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Tuesday said he was not "surprised" when his political opponents started highlighting his marital status, and dismissed that there was anything to discuss about his personal life.
"I am not surprised at anything, there is nothing to my (personal) life. Since there is nothing much for them (to talk about), they keep talking about (such) things," Modi told ABP News in an interview.
The Congress took up the issue of Modi's marital status after he filed his nomination papers from Vadodara constituency in Gujarat.
It was for the first time that Modi in the affidavit admitted he was married and mentioned the name of his wife. In all his past affidavits, he had left the column blank.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi targeted Modi over this, for not once mentioning his wife's name in the past.
Congress leader Kapil Sibal moved the Election Commission against Modi, alleging that he had been "hiding" facts.
The poll panel has said it is examining the matter.
