He was a kind and compassionate person, and a wonderful father figure to me and Priyanka, who taught us the value of forgiveness and empathy. I miss him dearly and we both fondly remember the time we spent together.

He became the youngest Prime Minister of India at the age of 40 after taking office in October 1984. He served as the Prime Minister of India till 2 December 1989.
Born on 20 August 1944, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on 21 May 1991 by a Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) suicide bomber during an election rally in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
