Electoral Bonds Case: A Constitution bench of five judges of the Supreme Court will hear a petition by the State Bank of India (SBI) today. State Bank of India has sought time till June 30 from the Supreme Court to disclose details of every electoral bond converted into cash by political parties.

Request for contempt action against SBI

A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud will also hear a separate petition. Let us tell you that in this petition a request has been made to initiate contempt action against SBI. It has been alleged that SBI deliberately disobeyed the apex court's direction to submit details of donations received by political parties through electoral bonds to the Election Commission by March 6.

Who is included in the bench?

Let us tell you that the Constitution bench of five judges of the Supreme Court includes Judge Sanjeev Khanna, Judge B.R. Gavai, Judge J.B. Pardiwala, and Judge Manoj Mishra. The bench will hear SBI's application at 10:30 am.

The Supreme Court had given a historic decision

It is noteworthy that on February 15, the Supreme Court gave a historic verdict related to an electoral bond.

The court had canceled the electoral bond scheme and declared it unconstitutional.

Also, the Supreme Court had ordered the Election Commission to disclose the donors and the amount given as donations by March 13.

However, SBI had approached the Supreme Court to disclose the details of the electoral bonds. He has asked the court for time till June 30.
