There has been an uproar over Congress leader Shivraj Patil's statement that there is 'Jihad in Gita'. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has said that Congress leaders cannot think beyond Muslim appeasement. They justify jihad because of their interests and that is the reason why the incidents of 'separation from the head' are increasing continuously in the country. The organization has said that Lord Krishna has taught Karma Yoga to Arjuna in the Gita and it talks about world welfare, but if Congress leaders can see Jihad in it, then it is the result of their unfortunate thinking. This also proves that the Congress leaders proving themselves to be Hindus at the time of elections is just a sham.
VHP leader Dr. Surendra Jain has expressed opposition to Shivraj Patil's statement and said that the path of self-welfare, social welfare, and world welfare has been told in the Gita. Great people from all over the world see the Gita as the peace text of the world and get inspiration from it. He said that Lord Krishna has taught Karmayoga to Arjuna in Gita, but if Congress sees Jihad in it, it is shameful.
He alleged that Congress has been adopting similar anti-Hindu stand since independence. He said that Congress leaders neither understand Gita nor do they understand the point of Jihad. They support this thinking only because of personal interest, due to which the incidents of dismemberment are increasing in the country and the Hindus are suffering as a result.
What did Shivraj Patil say?
Former cabinet minister Shivraj Patil on the occasion of the release of a book written by Mohsina Kidwai said that Jihad is talked about a lot within Islam, but it is not said only in Islam. Similar things have been said in Hindu-Christian religions as well. He said that it has been said in these that even after working with very good ideas, if one does not understand it, then one has to take recourse to power.
He said that even in the Bhagavad Gita, what Lord Krishna gives to Arjuna, he only tells him to do jihad. Jesus Christ has also written that he has not only come here to establish peace but has also brought a sword with him. If someone comes with a sword, you can't run away from him. He said that the same thing has been written in the book of Mohsina Kidwai.
