Congress party president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday compared Lok Sabha MP Priyanka Gandhi to historic freedom fighters Kittur Rani Chennamma and Jhansi ki Rani Lakshmi Bai and said that she represents 'Stri Shakti'.

Along with this, he described Rahul Gandhi as a symbol of 'Yuva Shakti'. He said, 'If there is Kittur Chennamma, it is Priyanka Gandhi. If there is Jhansi ki Rani, it is Priyanka Gandhi. She is very strong. After the assassination of her father Rajiv Gandhi, she took care of the family. We have Priyanka Gandhi as Stri Shakti and Rahul Gandhi as Yuva Shakti.'

Program held in Belgaum

Kharge further said, 'Belgaum is the birthplace of Kittur Rani Chennamma. She was a great woman who fought for the country's honor and people. Similarly, if there is a powerful woman who is fighting against BJP and RSS, it is Priyanka Gandhi. She has that strength.'

Addressing the Gandhi Bharat program, Kharge said that the party has organized this program to celebrate the centenary of the only Congress session held in Belgaum. That session was presided over by Mahatma Gandhi as the party president in 1924.

He reiterated the words spoken by Mahatma Gandhi in Belgaum, 'I want to live for India, I want to die for India.'

Priyanka attacked

In this program organized on the theme of Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, and Jai Samvidhan, Priyanka Gandhi said that apart from Congress, many governments came and went, but there was no minister in any government who stood up in Parliament and insulted Ambedkar.

He said that 'Home Minister Amit Shah recently stood inside the Rajya Sabha and insulted BR Ambedkar, the maker of the Indian Constitution. Shah insulted the country and the freedom fighters who sacrificed everything for it.'
